Lucy primarily uses the slow process of hand building with clay coils to create unique pieces that blend utilitarianism with sculpture. She attempts to intrigue and humor the viewer by creating shapes that defy normal perceptions of gravity and balance.
After nearly a decade of working in environmental research at Ecologic Institute and the UN, Lucy grew disillusioned with political process and sought unapologetic full-time refuge in clay as of 2017. This period coincided with the birth of her daughter whose name bears that of the studio, SANDE.
Lucy is always open for collaborations, exciting projects and private commissions.
